When the first Singapore Michelin Guide was released on July 21st, negative reactions from local food critics, journalists and bloggers was similar to that of Hong Kong (each and every year) – many questioning certain entries and the exclusion of others. Controversy aside, shining the international spotlight on dining in Singapore, including some homegrown talent can only be a good thing.
Eateries in city see stars is an article I wrote for South China Morning Post, highlighting some of these homegrown stars. There is also a link to the Guide, which has a searchable database and is available as a free app.

Also worth watching is this heartwarming video of a hawker, who was one of two to receive a Michelin star, a world first.
